Commemoration of Nelson Mandela’s 107th Birth Anniversary

Students of Mahavir Senior Model School attended the commemoration of Nelson Mandela’s 107th birth anniversary, organised by Gandhi Yuva Baradari, United Nations Information Centre, and Working Group on Alternative Strategies.

The event, themed “No one is born hating another person…”, began with a peace rally where students from various schools carried flags of different colour and paid tribute to Mandela with the slogan “Madiba Tujhe Salaam.”

The program featured cultural performances, a presentation on Mandela’s life, and a powerful video contrasting Gandhiji’s and Mandela’s experiences in South Africa. Highlights included the UN Secretary General’s message, speeches by dignitaries from South Africa and civil society, and an exhibition titled “Madiba and His Struggle.”

Students participated enthusiastically in the interactive session, gaining valuable insights into Mandela’s ideals of justice, equality, and peaceful resistance.
