Child Protection Awareness Programme

A Child Protection Awareness Programme was organised on 13 July 2026 by the Delhi Police (Outer North District), Parivartan Cell, as part of Child Protection Month, at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies. The programme aimed to promote awareness about child safety, legal rights, cyber security, and preventive measures to create a safe environment for children.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Vijay Singh, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, Outer North District, along with distinguished dignitaries Ms.Priyanka Singh Tomar conducted an engaging session on child protection, focusing on recognising, preventing, and reporting child abuse. Mr. Siddharth Gupta delivered an insightful session on cyber safety, educating participants about common online threats such as OTP frauds, QR code scams, fake job offers, phishing attacks, and data breaches. The legal awareness segment was led by Advocate Sanjay Yadav, who explained key provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the role of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), the concept of Digital FIRs, and the establishment of Women Police Stations to strengthen access to justice and protection for women and children.Dr. Deepa Kaushik addressed the participants on fundamental rights and important legislative provisions, including the POSH Act and other constitutional safeguards that ensure dignity.
An engaging self-defence demonstration was conducted by the women police officers of the Parivartan Cell, who showcased practical techniques that children can use in emergency situations. Participants also learned valuable personal safety strategies such as using family code words, following the buddy system, carrying safety alarms or whistles where appropriate, and remaining alert in unfamiliar situations.
