Asteroid Day is a UN-sanctioned Global Awareness Campaign celebrated annually on 30 June. It was started on a mission to inspire, engage and educate the public about asteroids: opportunities and risks.
The day is aimed at creating awareness among the people regarding the near-earth objects (NEO) that can be “potentially catastrophic threats” to our planet. As per NASA’s Near-Earth Object Observations Programme, asteroids that are 140 metres or larger (bigger than a small football stadium) are of “the greatest concerns and scientists have suggested different ways 0f deflecting it off its Earth-bound course by hitting it with a spacecraft.
Science Department has celebrated Asteroid Day by engaging the students in various activities such as Presentation by students, - Model of Asteroid, - Bookmark on Asteroid day, - Poster Making, PPT on Asteroid Day. Students of all classes and section Enthusiastically participated and enhanced their knowledge.
