MSMS Science department took initiative to conduct A workshop on First Aid and CPR for students of classes VII and VIII aimed at introducing them to the vital life-saving skill of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The session was conducted on Friday September 6, 2024 by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, a development sector professional from Heart Care Foundation of India. He began by explaining the concept of CPR, its meaning, and how it works. To make the concept more relatable, Mr. Sanjeev shared stories from pop culture and even referenced the Mahabharata to help students grasp the significance of CPR.
A key part of the workshop focused on distinguishing between a stroke, heart attack, and cardiac arrest, clarifying when CPR should be applied. The procedure for administering CPR was thoroughly explained and demonstrated, including checking for breathing and a pulse, and how to perform chest compressions correctly. Students practiced CPR on dummies, allowing them to apply what they learnt in a hands-on way.
