NATIONAL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

Science Department of MSMS successfully conducted the National SciencOlympiad 2023 for  classes I to XII.

Total of 100 students enrolled and 90 students took the exam. This exam prepares students for future competitive exams by testing student's aptitude as well as the knowledge of a particular subject. Students' performance in school academics is also improved as Olympiads sharpen their thinking and learning process which helps them to grasp the concepts taught in schools better.

26th HEPATITIS DAY

Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences organized *26th Hepatitis Day* on *4th December 2023* Monday in its premises to highlight the importance of protecting the liver against hepatitis.

This program aims to create awareness in school students regarding healthy lifestyle practices for a healthy liver.

 The theme for this year's program was “ *Your Liver is Your Life”*

The chief guest for the event was *Sh.Saurabh Bhardwaj* hon'ble minister of health,  GNCTD.

Other Guests present were Sh.Naresh Yadav , MLA Mehrauli and Sh.Surendra Sharma , famous Indian poet and writer.

32 schools from all over Delhi participated in the Poster, Quiz and solo act Competitions. Among 180 posters

Report on Community Science Programme on Air Quality

One of the  most important non living resources for life is the air we breathe, Without clean air  we cannot exist.

 Earthwatch Institute India is a science-based conservation institution working to create awareness  about air pollution and ways to mitigate it.They focus on scientific research, education and experiential learning, skill development, community-based conservation programmes and field projects, grounded in science to generate knowledge and contribute solutions.

They connect citizens with scientists to increase scientific understanding of environmental issues and observe nature as citizen scientists.

Principal ma'am launched E learning resources and learning Modules on Air Quality presented by Earthwatch.

Resource persons shared the vision of Earthwatch in reducing air pollution. They also guided students to monitor various parameters like PPM , AQI etc. related to air pollution. They discussed various methods and strategies that can be adopted to reduce air pollution. They gave copies of comic book "Clean Air begins with me" related to air pollution for MSMS library.

On November 4th, 2023, Mahavir Senior Model School's Class XI and XII students seized yet another remarkable opportunity to explore the halls of the Supreme Court of India.

This educational voyage provided insights into the Supreme Court's operations and history. Students explored the Chief Justice's courtroom, Registrar's office, and the Bar Council of India's office. The Judges' Library was a significant highlight, showcasing a vast collection of legal texts. 
The visit also included an artistic experience with statues and paintings. 

This perspicacious expedition to the Supreme Court of India provided students with a unique and profound insight into India's judicial system and its rich history.

41st ANNUAL DAY

Mahavir Senior Model School proudly celebrated its 41^st Annual Day and Prize Distribution Ceremony on Saturday, 28 October 2023.

It was a star studded evening decorated by an array of eminent guests including Chief Guest Hon'ble Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya - Member of Parliamentary Board, Guest of Honour - Hon'ble Shri Lahar Singh Siroya - Member of Parliament - Rajya Sabha, honourable members of the Managing Committee, The Principal, Mrs. Ruchika Sukhija.

The spectacular function commenced with Lighting of Lamp accompanied by chanting of Navkar Mantra followed by Annual Report of the school presented by the Principal, Mrs Ruchika Sukhija. Thereafter prizes were given to the meritorious students for their academic prowess and excellence in co - curricular activities. The coveted prizes included, Shri Judge Mal Jain Memorial Award, Shri S. P. Jain Memorial Award, Smt. Usha Jain Memorial Award and Shri Lal Chand and Darshna Jain Award. Certificate of Excellence and Certificate of Merit were given to the students for their outstanding performance in cocurricular activities. 

 The main highlight of the day was the cultural programme. It showcased spectacular performances enriched with rich music, costume, dance, and mime.  The audience was enthralled by a musical ballad ‘Saaz aur Awaaz’. Tiny Tots of MJMS touched the patriotic chord by their presentation ‘Salute India’. It was followed by gripping historical play ‘Sankalp’ which showcased an episode from the life of Veer Shivaji .

An anthology of interesting stories written by Mahavirians namely ‘MSMS TALES’ was also released.

The Principal, Mrs Ruchika Sukhija appreciated the faculty members for their hard work and expressed her gratitude to the management for their relentless support.

The celebrations concluded on a happy note for all.

Report of launch of Apna Chandrayan Portal

On Tuesday,  17th October, 2023, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship *Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched a web portal ‘ Apna Chandrayaan ’ having activity-based support material such as quiz , puzzles, etc for school students on Mission Chandrayaan-3 developed by NCERT under the aegis of the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, in New Delhi today. He also released 10 special modules on Chandrayaan-3, offering a comprehensive overview of its various facets - including scientific, technological, and social aspects, as well as the emotional journey and team spirit of the scientists involved.

ISRO chief Sh. S. Somanath also graced the event and addressed students and teachers. Mrs.Sarika Jain (PGT Biology) along with Shagun Gupta and Saiansh Kapoor of class VIII attended this event. Course Modules were available for all participants. It was an enriching event for all the students who were highly motivated to listen to the esteemed guests.

Birth Anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

 October 15 is celebrated as World Students’ Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, a  Aerospace scientist and former President of India. The day is marked to acknowledge his efforts toward students and education.He was also known as the Missile Man of India.

 An array of activities for the students of classes III - VIII was organised to apprise the students with the incredible life journey of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.  A short Documentary was shown to class III students.

The students of class IV presented Motivational Quotes by Dr. Kalam. The class V students performed Role Play to commemorate the great scientist.

The students of class VI, VII and VIII also reminisced about the great soul by presenting Anecdotes , Poster Making and by exhibiting their creativity through the Caricatures of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam respectively.

These activities were a great initiative to acquaint the students with the great personality and learn more about him and his contributions for our country.    

MESMERIZING MECHANICS

Physics  workshop was organised by Birla Vidya Niketan, Puspa Vihar in collaboration with Anveshika. Resource person of the workshop was Mrs. Pragya Nopany.

Workshop was Attended by 5 students of grade 11 and Mrs. Geeta Kumar (PGT Physics).  This interactive workshop enabled the students to think critically about the mechanics concepts in their physics syllabus through intriguing demonstrations and brainstorming. Various topics covered were Friction , Fee body digram , Relative motion, laws of vector addition, projectile motion, torque, Newton’s laws of motion.

 The hands-on activities of mechanics fostered creativity and curiosity in students. Our Students participated in activities and interacted with resource person . So it was an enriching experience.

Visit To 10th National Level Exhibition Cum Project Competition

Students of class 8ABC  visited  the 10th National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC) under INSPIRE – MANAK being organised by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India and NIF-India at Main Gymnastics Arena, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Near Rajghat, New Delhi on October 9th ,2023.

During the event, about 500 young school students, from all parts of the country, displayed their innovative science and technology based ideas/innovations. It was  a wonderful opportunity for the students to witness the event and interact with the exhibition participants . Our Students gained immensely from this interaction.

INTERNATIONAL CHEMISTRY QUIZ AND ENVIRO QUIZ

Science department conducted International Chemistry Quiz and Enviro Quiz organised by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute RACI on 4th October and 12th October 2023 respectively for classes 9th to 12th and 3rd to 8th in Physics and Biology Labs.  76 students participated  in the quiz.

The quiz attracts students throughout Australia and 20 other countries around the world, including India, Germany, Nepal, HongKong , Yemen, New Guinea, China etc.

ICQ  questions were based on the fundamental aspects of science involving its applications in modern society. The questions were designed in such a way as to sharpen the higher order thinking skills of participating students .

Students participated enthusiastically and the quiz helped them in updating themselves with latest information and to explore and relish the subject of Chemistry and Environmental science.

INTERSCHOOL POWERPOINT COMPETITION

It is a matter of immense pleasure  to share that  our students  Vikas Rajpurohit of Class X-C and Akshara Jain of class X-A bagged *1st Position in interschool competition OJASVI -

POWER POINT PRESENTATION" organised by Queen Mary's school on 23.8.23.

Students presented PPT on the topic THE CELESTIAL BODIES   highlighting the features of celestial bodies, artificial satellites, comets, meteors, launch of Chandrayaan-3 and its successful landing. Their efforts were applauded by the judges and they were felicitated with a medal and a certificate.

Interschool competition

 MSMS Students  Ishita Gupta , Nishant Jain and Ritika Gupta of Class 11th C  bagged 1st Position among  top 15 schools in interschool competition "Science Symposium " organised by Rosary Sr. Secondary school on 28.7.23.

Students presented PPT on the topic *Role of AI in Science for sustainable development* .

They got 2 trophies one is best team trophy  and Ishita Gupta has also got best speaker.

Inauguration of Augmented Chemistry Laboratory of MSMS

MSMS celebrated a momentous occasion on July 22, 2023 Saturday, with the grand inauguration of its newly renovated Chemistry Lab. The event was graced by the chief guest Mr.S.K. Munjal (chemistry expert), management members, faculty members and students who gathered to witness this significant milestone in the school's commitment to excel in scientific education.

The event commenced with the ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the official opening of the state-of-the-art Chemistry Laboratory. The Chief guest Mr. S.K. Munjal Sir, esteemed management members, guests and the Principal had the honour of jointly cutting the ribbon. Everyone observed a moment of reverence with the recitation of the Navkar Mantra, expressing gratitude and seeking blessings for the successful functioning of the new laboratory. The lamp lighting ceremony, signifying the illumination of knowledge and wisdom, was carried out by chief guest, all the dignitaries along with Principal ma'am.

Principal Mrs. Ruchika Sukhija delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the commitment to foster a culture of scientific exploration and the role of the Chemistry Lab in enhancing the learning experience for students.

 To infuse an element of creativity and celebration, a captivating dance performance was presented by students . The audience was treated to an enchanting musical experience with the rendition of "Symphony of Science." Mr. S.K. Munjal shared his insightful experience, emphasizing the importance of practical application of knowledge in the field of chemistry.

Rangoli Competition

The Government of India has decided to celebrate IYOM( International Year of Millets), 2023 to make it a peoples' movement so that the Indian millets, recipes, value added products are accepted globally.

Science Department took the initiative to celebrate *MILLETOPIA* a week-long  festival of various competitions to educate our young Mahavirians about the types and  benefits of millets like jowar, bajra, ragi etc. As a part of the same RANGOLI COMPETITION -MANBHAVAN MILLETS was organized for students of Class X on 21st July, 2023. This Rangoli making competition motivated the students to perform and outshine in their creative skills and most important, work as a team to bring laurels to their house. Class XC students were the winners of the competition .
